One windy spring day, I observed young people having fun using the wind to fly their kites. Multicolored creations of 1 shapes and sizes filled the skies like beautiful birds darting and dancing. As the strong winds blew 2 the kites, a string kept them in 3 .
Instead of blowing away with the wind, they arose against it to 4 great heights. They shook and pulled, but the restraining(约束)string and the 5 tail kept them in tow(拖绳), facing upward and against the wind. 6 the kites struggled and 7 against the string, they seemed to say, “Let me go! Let me go! I want to be 8 !” They flew beautifully 9 as they fought the restriction of the string. Finally, one of the kites succeeded in 10 loose. “Free at last,” it seemed to say. “Free to fly with the wind.”
Yet freedom from restraint 11 put it at the 12 of an unsympathetic breeze. It fluttered (摇晃)ungracefully to the ground and landed in a tangled mass of weeds and string against a dead bush. “Free at last” free to lie powerless in the dirt, to be blown 13 along the ground, and to stop flying lifeless against the first obstacle.
How much like kites we sometimes are. The Heaven gives us trouble and restrictions, rules to follow 14 we can gain strength. However, Some of us 15 the rules so lightly that we never reach the heights we 16 have obtained. We just keep some of the rules and never rise high enough to get our tails 17 the ground.
Let us each 18 to the great heights, recognizing that some of the restraints that we may think 19 are actually the steadying 20 that helps us ascend and achieve.
